Trident Medical Services

A Partnership For Your Health At Work.

Charity of the Year 2017-2018

Trident Medical Services StaffAs part of our corporate social responsibility policy, we have chosen to partner with a charity each year. The partnership provides a great opportunity for us to support a local charity though fundraising and volunteering opportunities and make a positive impact in our local community.

Our charity of the year 2017-18 – SeeAbility

For the year commencing 1 September 2017 we have chosen SeeAbility as our charity of the year.

SeeAbility is a 200-year-old registered UK charity that supports people with sight loss and multiple disabilities, including learning and physical disabilities, mental health difficulties, acquired brain injury and life-limiting conditions. It provides specialist support enabling people to develop the skills and make the choices they want, to enjoy a fulfilling life with as much independence as possible. SeeAbility has various sites including Heather House in Tadley, where the TMS head office is also based.

Heather House supports 16 young people with life-limiting conditions, including a rare disease called juvenile Batten Disease. It is the only residential service of its kind in the UK.

The charity does amazing work to support these young people and give them quality of life, care and support and we’re delighted to support them this year, sending all of the funds we raise to support Heather House in Tadley.

TMS Fundraising

Our target

Our target for fundraising this year is £7,000 which we hope to raise by the end of August 2018.

Where we are so far

We’re delighted to announce that we have exceed our target and have raised £9,172.22. We still have until the end of August to go so still counting…..

Our activities

We have recruited a team of volunteer charity champions who are working together to organise fundraising events and volunteering opportunities across the year.
What we’ve done so far:

  • Fortnightly dress down days at our head office (we’re only a small head office team but every penny counts!!)
  • Our Business Support Assistant’s niece climbed the Yorkshire Three Peaks and raised a fantastic £360. TMS has matched this funding meaning a total of £720.
  • We held a bake sale and, alongside, we ran a Guess the Baby Photo competition. We were all a little full but had a good chuckle at some of the photos!
  • We are running quarterly 50:50 Clubs – staff pay £5.00 into a pot, a winner is drawn at random and wins 50% of the pot with the other 50% going to SeeAbility
  • TMS purchased its Christmas cards from a company who donate 10 pence per card to SeeAbility on our behalf
  • We held a raffle at our staff pre-Christmas lunch which was a great success. Thanks very much to the local businesses who kindly donated prizes: LK Hair and Beauty in Newbury, The Picture Company in Bracknell, the Elm Tree at Beech Hill, Bedlam Paintballing, Steve Jones Photography in Old Basing, Lisa at Perfectly Sweet in Basingstoke, Asda and Sainsbury
  • We have set up a tuck shop in our offices – the initial stock was donated by one of our charity champions. All funds received are be split between replenishing stock levels and going to SeeAbility
  • We were accepted by the Waitrose green tokens scheme and received a donation of £204.00. Thank you Waitrose!
  • We ran a Grand National sweepstake – with half of the money going to the winnings and half to SeeAbility
  • We were accepted on the Tesco Bags for Help scheme and thanks to voters in Hook and Baughurst we received a £1,000 donation. Thanks very much to Tesco and all the voters!
  • Our team of three did a gruelling 35km walk in the South Downs in May organised by Just Walk.
  • TMS makes donations each month based on whether our team meets its corporate objectives
  • TMS makes donations for every customer feedback form and testimonial we receive
